This game has excellent shadow detail, find a darker area in the castle and adjust your tv brightness so that dark shadows actually look like dark shadows, and not punched up grey shadows.įor me, I did find that when I got everything calibrated to my liking the castle can be a little dark at times - this makes sense it is lit by candles and natural light so it should look a little dark at night. Don’t try to set it to just one past where it looks the same as it recommends, just go all the way to as black as it can, this will fix the raised black levels.Ģ) for my tv (not an oled, your experience might be different) the brightness levels by default are punched up too high, resulting in a washed out looking image. So with that said I think the HdR is maybe less forgiving in this game, but when dialed in it’s truly top quality.ġ) if you’re on Xbox (and probably this is true on ps5 also) make sure that when you do the Xbox hdr calibration that you turn the black levels as low as it will go. I actually found this game helped me immensely to change my tv settings to the point that it looks fantastic, and then going back to other games I’m seeing how much better these settings changes were across the board.
You can have the best tv in the world and if you haven’t calibrated it correctly it won’t matter. Everything you just said is likely based on your tv or console settings and not the game having bad HDR.
